Concert with SMO at the Ljubljana Winter Festival
1 of March 2023
As part of the 6th Ljubljana Winter Festival, the Slovenian Youth Orchestra performed on 1 March 2023 in the Gallus Hall of Cankarjev dom. Violinist Robert Lakatoš and clarinettist Arthur Stockel performed as soloists with the Slovenian Youth Orchestra under the baton of Živa Ploj Peršuh.
Serbian violinist Robert Lakatoš was the youngest violin student at the Academy in his home town Novi Sad, where he now works as a lecturer, and continued his studies at the Zurich University of Music and with Julian Rachlin at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He is also the winner of the renowned Pablo de Sarasate International Violin Competition.
French clarinettist Arthur Stockel has established himself as a passionate and eclectic musician through his virtuosic and multifaceted career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral member. When he was appointed Principal Clarinet of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 21, he proved to be one of the leading classical artists of his generation. He trained with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, the Gustav Mahler Chamber Orchestra Academy and has appeared under the batons of conductors such as Daniel Harding, Valery Gergiev, Antonio Pappano and Vladimir Jurovsky. The orchestra gave the premiere performance of the Concertino for clarinet and string orchestra by the Slovenian composer Aleksandra Naumovska Potisk, along with Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, Brahms’ Violin Concerto and Brahms’ Hungarian Dances (1-5).
